New Zealand Women vs India Women, 2nd ODI Preview

The Big Picture

After pulling off a nine-wicket win in the first ODI, the Women in Blue will look to close out the series tomorrow when they take on the White Ferns in the second game at the Bay Oval on Tuesday.

Just their male counterparts, the Women in Blue applied a spin choke on their host in the last match courtesy the troika of Ekta Bist, Poonam Yadav and Deepti Sharma. The troika shared eight-wickets between them to restrict the White Ferns' to 192 despite a 61-run opening stand between Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine.

If the bowling effort was pristine, the batting courtesy a record 190-run stand between Smriti Mandhana and Jemiah Rodriques was swashbuckling, to say the least as they flayed the Kiwi balling attack to all corners of Napier.

Spin is yet again expected to play a crucial part at Mount Maunganui and the game will essentially be decided as to how the White Ferns play against the troika. Skipper Amy Satterthwaite and Amelia Kerr will hold the key for the hosts in the middle overs while they will also hope their bowlers redeem themselves after a mauling at the hands of Mandhana and Rodriques.

What to expect?

If the two ODIs between their male counterparts are any indicator, it is expected to be yet another spin trial for the White Ferns batters.
