Team India continued their dominance over the West Indies on the third day at Sabina Park. After bowling the Windies out for 117, the tourists declared their second innings at 4-168, leaving the hosts an improbable target of 468. The hosts lost both their openers and finished the day at 2-45.

Here's what happened-

Morning Session

The only question one had while going into the Morning session how much long before India take the remaining three wickets? Also, will Virat Kohli enforce the follow-on? And, it did not take much time before the bowlers got into their act. Mohammad Shami bounced out Rahkeem Cornwall in his 3rd over of the morning. The wicket also turned out to be Shami's 150th Test wicket; only the fifth Indian pacer to do so.

Kemar Roach played some lovely- none better than the cover drive off Bumrah (Yep! Bumrah) while Hamilton showed some gritty resistance to deny India any further wicket in the first hour. But Ishant did not take much time after the drinks as he induced an edge off Hamilton, only for Kohli to take a simple catch at slips.

Jadeja then picked out Roach, who in an attempt to loft Jadeja over the covers ended up hitting it straight to Agarwal. With Windies all out at 117, all eyes were on Virar Kohli, as he had done at the MCG last year, decided against enforcing the follow on.

India bats again...

Kemar Roach gave Windies the early breakthrough as he pinned Mayank Agarwal in front of the wicket with a cross seamer. Pujara and Rahul ensured there ere no further hiccups as the visitors went inyo the Lunch break with an overall lead of 315.

Afternoon Session

Status: Won by West Indies

The first half-hour of the second session was block, block, block for Team India as Rahul prodded to his way to a 62-ball-6 before Kemar Roach's brilliance spring some life into the game. His continued persistence with the 4th channel line, accounting for Rahul and Kohli off two successive deliveries. We were millimeters away from the second hat trick of the game when Ajnikya Rahane tentatively dragged at the ball past his leg-stump, much to the agony of Roach and his teammates.

But the Windies kept on persisting. Cheteshwar Pujara (24) was looking good to finally cash in on his start but a snorter of delivery from Holder- one that rose sharply from a back of a length towards the batsman. Pujara, in an attempt to move away from the line, ended up hanging his bat to give a simple catch to gully. India 4-57.

Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari ensured there were no further hiccups as the tourists went into the Tea break with an overall lead of 372.

Tea Session

Status: Won by India

The Indian batsman came out with a more positive intent than we had seen prior to the break with Hanuma Vihari's exquisite strokeplay at its forefront. The right-hander cut, pulled and flicked brilliantly against the likes of Roach, showcasing his form and class to the hilt.

India's lead nudged past the 400-run mark and already all eyes were on the dressing room speculating the timing of the declaration as Rahane and Vihari continued to hammer the Windies attack into the dust with exquisite stroke play against both pace as well as spin.

The first thirteen overs after the Tea break saw the duo racking exactly the same amount of runs (73) that the Team had managed in the entirety of their innings before Tea. Soon the two centurions of the series brought up their respective half-centuries (also the 100-run partnership) with the lead also moving past the 450-run mark. And, with 462 runs already in the bank, the declaration finally arrived midway through Holder's over, leaving the Windies batsman 16 overs to survive.

The Windies openers strolled out to survive the day but it did not take long for the Indians to move that wicket column. Ishant Sharma accounted for Brathwaite when the right-hander tentatively poked at one that just held its length outside off.

Hanuma Vihari dropped a simple catch off Bravo but Virat Kohli ensured he rectified his own first-inning error when he safely pouched Campbell's edge off the bowling of Mohammad Shami. Jasprit Bumrah, after having troubled Bravo previously with a series of inswingers and outswingers, dished out the short ball stuff at the closing stages; one that ended up hitting his helmet.

It was a historic day for Ishant Sharma as he surpassed Kapil Dev to become the leading wicket-taking pacer for India outside Asia.
