Drive Through The Capital Of India & The City Of Daredevils

08 May 2019 291 Views Krishna Poddar

Striking off a bundle of issues, some major loopholes, renaming the team and modifying the entire management, the Delhi Daredevils turned Delhi Capitals stands on the 3rd spot in the IPL points table 2019.

With 4 wins from their last 5 matches the excitement, exuberance and anticipation among all the Delhi capital fans is palpable. And why not! Seeing their team winning the playoffs in the IPL is something they have all waited for, over the past decade.  It's not just the crazy Delhi crowd, but also the whole city that is anticipating victory of their home team over the Sunrisers Hyderabad tonight.

The 135-year-old stadium, Feroz Shah Kotla has hosted excellent matches etching records for Team India. Dating back from 1987, till date, India has not lost a single match in the stadium. It’s no wonder the stadium is coined the lucky charm of India.  The 29th century scored by Sunil Gavaskar equalizing the record with Don Bradman and the 35th century of Sachin Tendulkar breaking Gavaskar's record is among the precious moments captured at the ground of Feroz Shah Kotla.

The city never fails to amaze with its brilliant fans. With cricket being an obsession in India and IPL providing some of the best cricket, the craze is ever increasing.  If you too are a Delhi capitals fan, here we take a look at what this great city has in store for you, if ever you choose to visit and catch a match like the big one this evening.

Landing in the city of Devils - The Delhi Capitals

So, the vivacity of watching your favorite team walk down the pavilion and strike off the opponent whilst trying to make their way to the finals, is no doubt in your mind. You just can't wait for dusk to kiss back its horizon and your day- the day when Delhi Capitals will take the playoffs by storm to book their place in the finals just arrives.

I know your zest is flying sky high, but hold on.  The match is tomorrow and you have one entire night, morning and probably a scorching afternoon to pass before you finally enter the stadium.  So,  what's your plan? Where to go?  Which places to admire before the playoffs?

Night Before the Match

The best time to stroll across the streets of Delhi is after the delhites have fallen asleep.  Though many are still awake when you’re visiting the city, embracing the calmness after dusk is something you cannot miss.  Where at one side of the city,  you will feel as if there are no residents and the place is tranquil, a second street will be so filled with people leaving you amazed that it's actually midnight.

The hidden party spots, the places for photography lovers or a serene surrounding to just walk, Delhi has plenty of choices.

For the party lovers, nightclubs are your one and only destination. The Fantastic music, feet tapping to each tune, all sets the mood for a great evening.

The top three spots to consider are:

Ghungroo
Known for: Delhi’s favorite nightlife hub since the 90s
Location: ITC Sheraton, Chanakyapuri

Agni

Location: The Park Hotel, Connaught Place

Trust me, you are not going to regret any of these venues.

If you are someone who loves a chilled out bar with a glass of wine, then lounges are your place and believe me, Delhi has some of the finest.

Farzi Café

Location: Connaught Place

Farzi Cafe

Tamasha

Known for: Haven for foodies and Pub hoppers

Location: Connaught Place

Tamasha

Fork You

For a livelier atmosphere, drive off to the hard rock Cafe to experience Delhi music. From band performances to karaoke nights, HRC is every music lover's favorite spot.

For a more serine experience you can visit the India Gate. You can either walk through the lanes or simply hop in a boat to tour the place with the last boating time being 9pm. As the sun goes past the horizon, the place is lit with luminous lights and under the starry sky, the beauty is beyond describing.  Nothing can beat this.

Yes, this might sound tiring but you will definitely love it. Head back to your hotel room after a wonderful night, because the next morning has plenty of things to unbox.

The Next Day

Since there is a match to witness,  there isn’t going to be long distance travel to places because you have to be fully charged before entering the stadium, right?

So, today some of the places you can tick off your list are the National Gandhi Museum, the International Dolls Museum, the Khuni Darwaja and the Raj Ghat.

As for lunch I would suggest that instead of hopping inside a prolific restaurant, try the street food.  It's something you will never forget.

Here are a couple of good shouts.
