Rahul-Rohit Duo Ready to Excel Team India

16 Nov 2021 118 Views Kumari Vandana

After a heartbreaking performance in ICC T20 World Cup, the Indian team is now ready for their Series against the Blackcaps. New Zealand who just lost another chance of being a white-ball World Cup champion against Australia turned out to be the new chokers of international cricket. Keeping this bilateral series in mind, many things will be new. We definitely expect a change in the way India plays cricket because the anchor of team India is brand new this time.

Team India will be hosting New Zealand in three T20Is and 2 Test matches in November-December starting from 17th November.

Will R-Factor be lucky for Team India?

You must be surprised at what this R-Factor is? We are talking about the Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma duo who are going to lead team India. With Indiranagar ka Gunda Rahul Dravid as off-field and Amchi Mumbai Ch Raja Rohit Sharma being the on field coach, Indian Cricket is soon going to see a new change. Both of them already have a record of winning the first four series as a captain for Team India. Surprisingly, these duos are the only two Indian players to hold this kind of record.

Rahul Dravid is much needed for Indian Cricket than ever before

Looking at the performance of the Indian Team in the ICC T20 World Cup, Rahul Dravid is very much needed the most at this hour for boosting team India’s confidence in white-ball Cricket. A big challenge lies ahead of him to prepare this team for the next T20 World Cup which is going to be held in just 11 months. Not only this, to a great extent, the responsibility of the 50 over World Cup campaign of 2023 will also be ahead of Rahul Dravid as a coach and Rohit Sharma as a captain.

Dravid’s decision starts showing on the team

Rahul Dravid has always been clear about his decisions, be it for the U-19 team squad then or be it the Senior team squad selection this time. Hopefully, we won’t be seeing any kind of favoritism and the biggest example is the dropping out of Hardik Pandya. He has been given a clear-cut message that no player will be ‘carried’. The hype about Varun Chakraborty before the T20 World Cup and his subsequent failure of taking not even a single wicket has also led to his omission from the team.

Young Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar has to make room for the experienced Yuzvendra Chahal. Also, the inclusion of Venkatesh Iyer in the team after his consistent performance in the second phase of IPL 2021, is the result of Dravid’s presence in the team as head coach. Same in the case of IPL 2021 Purple Cap Holder Harshal Patel’s entry into the team.

Key Additions in the Indian Team

Looking at the key new additions in the squad, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been rewarded for his consistent performances in IPL 2020 and 2021 for CSK. The reserved players of the T20 World Cup Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, and Axar Patel are now a part of the T20I series. Venkatesh Iyer, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, and Avesh Khan are also rewarded on the basis of their stunning performance in IPL 2021. Whereas Yuzvendra Chahal makes a surprise entry after being left out from the T20 World Cup squad may be on the basis of his experience.

Key omissions in the team

Looking at the workloads various senior players have been carrying for the past few months by playing continuous series’, former captain Virat Kohli has been rested from the T20I squad. He shall be expected to be back for the Test Series. Along with Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur, and Mohammed Shami have been rested.

We are expecting a great series performance from team India against New Zealand with Rahul Dravid being the brand-new Head Coach and Rohit Sharma as the Captain. We wish them the best of luck!
