Indian Test wicket-keeper, Rishabh Pant is set to feature in the fourth and fifth One-day of the England Lions' 5-match series against India A on January 29 and 31 respectively at Thiruvananthapuram.
Pant, India's Test keeper was not a part of the ODI squad for the series against Australia and New Zealand. However, chief selector, MSK Prasad stated the Delhi batsman was "very much" a part of the World Cup plans and that he needed four to five weeks of rest after a physically demanding Test series in Australia.
Pant, who is a part of the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand will join the national team after the fifth One-day against the Lions. India A will be led by Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane for the first three fixtures while Ankit Bawne will take up the mantle for the succeeding two games
The series gives the opportunity to Rahane to put his name in contention for the World Cup. Rahane, who averages 48.33 in his last 17 ODIs which includes a ton and seven half-centuries have been out of favor since India's ODI series against South Africa, last January where he batted at No.4.
Also part of the squad for the first three One-days is Krunal Pandya, who will fly to New Zealand to take part in the T20I series, starting February 06.
